monday = thrifted

The weekend went so quickly! I did find time to go to a couple sales though...

I'm always surprised when I find transfers; I was especially excited about the tri-chem booklet. All together it was $4.

Earrings from a rummage sale. I'm so addicted to finding these...just a couple dollars for all of them.

p.s. Thanks so much for all the nice comments about the box!

friday = misc.

Today I'm having what I know is going to be a fabulously fun sushi lunch with a sweet friend. It's quite a treat and so I've been daydreaming about it all week, which inspired this photo:

Hope your Friday & weekend are wonderful!

thursday = embroidery

I’m happy today to be able to share a finished embroidery project that I’ve been itching to show but didn’t want to spoil the giving of it as a gift.

I made this for a dear friend who is like a sister to me, hence the banner on the inside of the box:

The girls are from this Japanese embroidery book {which was a gift from my real sister – hi Sue!}…

And of course, what would embroidery day be without the weekly transfer?!

I thought this little guy would be cute on a baby’s bib:

And then there’s this guy:

Who I couldn’t resist providing an alternative version of:

Tomorrow's Friday - yay!

{p.s. So glad so many of you enjoyed the coloring book images yesterday...if you do stitch any of them up please send me a link so I can see - thanks!}

tuesday = fabric

For fabric day today I thought I'd go back to some of the circles I got at that rummage sale back in May:

Hope you enjoy them.

I’m so happy you liked the bookplates – thank you for your comments of appreciation, they all made me smile! One even made me almost cry…Catty who remembered them from her childhood & who now will use them for her children – so sweet.

The weekend was quiet, sale wise. I only bought a couple things & spent a mere dollar.

Two coloring books for 50 cents:

This wee little guy for 50 cents:

{I’m not sure what to do with him but couldn’t not get him}

There was also another 31 aprons photo-shoot, Here are two out-takes:

{To see the latest 7 photos just click here.}

And just so the girl cat didn't feel left out I made her do a photo too:

UPDATE: sadly the host for this pdf has changed & in the process the file was lost plus I'm not able to find my original file so I can't make it available again...so sorry...if I happen to find the file I'll update this post again with new info.

To celebrate the impending weekend I’ve got something for you…a new pdf!

Download PDF here

I bought a little box of vintage bookplates at a sale a couple weeks ago & thought they’d be fun to share with the nice people who read my blog.

I like to think of the pdfs I make as little thank you’s for the visitors here…especially for those of you who comment, since I’m not as good as I would like to be about writing to you & thanking you individually for your sweet words.

I hope you have a lovely weekend!

thursday = embroidery

Still no finished embroidery to share…I’m such a slow stitcher!

To make me feel less like I loser I dug up an old project to show you:

The bird is from needlecrafter & is just the pudgy, big-eyed type that I love! That Alice Brooks…

{I really like the chain stitch as an outline but seldom seem to use it lately. I used it more often when I was first learning how to embroidery…I really need to use it more often from now on.}

Today’s pattern may look familiar as it was part of last week’s post. It was so sweet I couldn’t help but scan it for you:

So happy tomorrow's Friday, see you then!

monday = thrifted

Well, that was a nice weekend - again, I tried to really focus & get things done…and it worked!

I did go to two estate sales, but I practiced restraint & only spent $7, which got me the following:

I also took more photos of the dog wearing more of the 31 aprons, if you’d like to see them click here.

My favorite of the bunch is definitely number 9!

friday = misc.

Today I wanted to share something I did last weekend.

At several different sales I’ve picked up some undone sun-catchers because they were so cheap, reminded me of my childhood & I just thought I should be able to find something to do with them.

So last weekend I got this idea to try filling one with patterned papers instead of those little pellets that melt.

Here’s the result:

It was a quick & satisfying little project & it came out just like I imagined, which is always a fun bonus.

Have a great weekend!

thursday = embroidery

Happy embroidery day!

Before I get to this week’s pattern I wanted to share a lovely gift I got in the mail last week from my mom’s friend K:

Aren’t they great! She sent a big pile of stamped linens & other assorted neat things, how lucky am I?! I know she sometimes reads the blog so I’d like to send out a big THANK YOU to her!

For today’s pattern I have selected a sheet from the batch I got last weekend:

It was loose & doesn’t have any mention of a manufacturer printed on it…anyone have an idea of its pedigree?

I don’t have many asian themed patterns so I was pretty excited when I discovered it. I thought it might be nice on a tea towel...

Have a lovely evening!

p.s. I am still doing embroidery, cross {stitch} my heart! I actually have a finished project to share but have to wait until it’s given before I can post photos. And I’ve started a new project, but it’s going to take quite awhile because it’s a rather large & detailed image {plus I’m a slow stitcher!}. I was thinking about joining in on the Feeling Stitchy banner contest but just don’t have time right now…but you should totally do it!
