more marie claire idees

Are you having a nice weekend? I hope so...mine has been great so far!

As promised, here are some more images from the latest issue of Marie Claire Idees:

I couple people have asked where I get mine - I actually bought a subscription through amazon. I have not had any sort of problem with the subscription and I've had it for a couple years {knock on wood}. It is pricey - personally I request amazon giftcards as presents for xmas & my birthday specifically with this subscription in mind.

The Borders by me carries single issues - I have also seen it sold at other Borders in different states where we use to live. They only get a couple issues though so depending on where you live they might sell out quickly. They are pricey there as well - over $10 per issue I believe.

I have kept every issue I ever got my hands on...I should get one of those fire resistant lock boxes for them!

Well, I'm off to continue the weekend - take care!

friday = misc.

Happy Friday!

Thanks for all your nice comments about the embroidered topped box - I'm sorry I forgot to mention where I purchased the box though! I got mine at Michaels, in the unfinished wood section. I think they are $1.99 or $2.99. There are endless possiblities for using them - I hope if you do something with one that you'll send me the link so I can see!

Today I thought I'd share some of my favorite images from the latest Marie Claire Idees. There are so many that I will post more over the weekend so please check back!

Even though Monday is a holiday {here in the states} I will be posting as usual, I'm hoping that the weekend will provide me with some thrifted treasures to share! Tomorrow is that Church rummage sale I went to a week early...fingers crossed that it's a good one.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

thursday = embroidery

Since I don’t have any new embroidery to share with you here’s an older piece I haven’t shown yet.

I’ve made several of these embroidered topped boxes as gifts – this one was my first & I’ve kept it for myself. I have another one in the works now but I’m moving like molasses lately!

For those of you with more energy & focus here is Vogart 695:

Can you believe this transfer was just 19 cents back in the day?! I have some old McCall’s Needlework magazines and whenever I look through them there are all these ads with crazy amazing kits you could buy, with little order forms to fill out and send in. How cool would it be to fill one of those out, enclose a check and get a vintage kit back in the mail?! Like if mail could travel back & forth in time...this is the kind of stuff I daydream about!

I really love the compositions, illustration style & colors!

monday = thrifted

My weekend was a thrifting bust! I thought there was a rummage sale but it turns out its this coming weekend, so while I was pretty devastated Saturday morning at 7am now I’m exciting looking forward to it.

Without any sales to go to I actually crafted…I know, hard to believe! I’ve been in a slump lately and it was starting to freak me out a little bit. But over the weekend I think I got my mojo back {fingers crossed}.

I can’t show you what I finished because it’s a gift & I can’t show you progress on a previous WIP I shared because its also a gift…so you just have to trust me.

Since I don’t have anything thrifted from the weekend to share I took some photos around the house of previously thrifted items to show.

I call this one "house hunting":

{I bought the elf at an estate sale last year for 50 cents and the house pencil holder at an thrift shop years ago for 99 cents. I know how much it was because the price tag is still on the back! They sit on my desk by my computer.}

I titled this one “harmony” but really it should be “Buddha, an owl & a matador walk into a bar…”:

{The bisque owl is from an estate sale last year, $5. The Buddha was also from an estate sale, $7. And the matador mosaic is from a church sale years ago – if I recall correctly he was $10 or $12. This is the corner of our living room.}

And finally these cement mushrooms were from a couple weekends ago but I forgot to include them on a previous post.

{It was an estate sale, they were $10 and weigh about 50 lbs.}

Later!
