winter 1971

when I hear the song "home for the holidays" this is the home I think of...

the home I grew up in & will once again wake up in this christmas morning. {although I don't like the snow as much as I did when I was that little 2 year old standing in the front yard, so I hope there's not too much of it...}

I'm going to take a little blog break now so I can focus all my energy on eating & drinking with my family - happy holidays everyone!

vintage craft magazine month - day seven

there is a part of me {a part I'm not particularly proud of} that likes the idea of making a big macaroni ball spray-painted silver, adorned with pretty ribbon & a spring of mistletoe to hang up every christmas:

{copyright 1969 McCall's 301 christmas make-it ideas}

that same part also loves the idea of fake, lifesize deer heads {also spray-painted} decorated window-boxes:

{copyright 1958 things to make for christmas}

huh, that part of me also seems to be really into spray-paint...

vintage craft magazine month - day six & a shaved dog photo

is it weird that I would wear any of these outfits if they were my size?

and I warned you...

he's doing so good! once again, thank you everyone for the wonderful comments & good vibes sent his way...I know he'd slobber each & everyone of you with kisses if he could :)

vintage craft magazine month - day five

according to the magazine these are two-purpose gift wraps - "backgrounds are cut from corrugated paper...recipient removes gift, uses holder for holiday decor"

shop update is complete & look what I found!

shop update sneak peek

I'm updating the shop with some new items tomorrow! {click on images to see them larger}

circus themed embroidered hoops:

I think these would look so adorable in a child's room or baby's nursery :)

custom paint by number & frame hoops:

I'll have a couple finished hoops for sale but I'm also going to have listings for custom ones! I'll add your choice of words/phrase onto a selection of different paint by number images or embroidered frames. I might be able to get these out in time for xmas if you place your order by next wed. {12.09}.

and totes:

I've added some designs in case the naked ones were a little too much for some people :) initial quantities on these are very limited, but I can get more printed quickly so if the one{s} you're interested in sell out convo me as soon as possible & I will order more. if you place your order by next wed. on these they should be delivered before xmas.

the listings on etsy will have more specifics for each of the items - I just wanted to post quickly about it here because I was too excited to wait until tomorrow :)

{have a great weekend!}

vintage craft magazine month - day four

three images that caught my eye for three very different reasons...

talk to the hand:

{copyright 1959 by whitestone publications from the how-to christmas book no. 2}

that big pompom:

{copyright 1968 by hallmark cards, inc.}

two of these ads seem out of place in a xmas craft magazine:

{copyright 1959 by whitestone publications from the how-to christmas book no. 2}

there's another post coming today...about a shop update...stay tuned.

and we have good news to report...the dog's surgery went well & hopefully he will be able to come home later today :) thank you everyone for your kind support!

vintage craft magazine month - day two

here are a couple ways to incorporate recycling into your xmas crafting...

bottle cap ornaments:

cardboard tube puppets:

q-tip bearded santa:

well okay, recycling used q-tips for this santa is probably not a good idea - saving them to use after the holidays is probably the better way to go...but you probably already knew that & it was just me who got all gross about it :)

{all images copyright 1959 by whitestone publications from the how-to christmas book no. 2}

one more thing...I need a favor. our loveable lug-of-a-dog is having surgery for a torn ligament in his leg today so if everyone could please send some good wishes & positive energy thoughts his & his surgeon's way we would really appreciate it :)
