thursday = embroidery

I thrifted a pair of wood earrings awhile ago thinking that they would make nice pendants for necklaces. the other day I decided to work on repurposing one of them & realized it was going to look kind of boring if I didn't add another element...so I added an embroidered flower from a vintage thrifted pillowcase:

I just cut out the flower, ironed on some fusible webbing to stiffen the fabric & stitched on some jump rings. it came out exactly as I hoped it would & I'm very happy with it.

moving on...I picked today's embroidery transfer up at rummage sale last weekend. it was the tiniest little sale...

p.s. julie over at janesapron is having a giveaway for a very sweet craft apron that incorporates a brilliant idea involving a tape measure…you must go look!

Your necklace turned out quite pretty.

Oh, I love the birds-on-branches pattern. I've been looking for a bird pattern to stitch my dad and stepmom for Christmas, and I do believe this will be the one. Thank you!!

What a pretty necklace and a great way to reuse thrifted items!

I love the little birds! Thank you. I'm going to put the smaller design on a tea towel for my Grandmother for Christmas.

You know, what's funny is that I would like to embroider that little kerchief girl. But the birds are nice too.

And your necklace is so pretty. You make me want to try my hand at jewelry. :)

I wanted to let you know that I talked about one of these patterns on my blog. Originally I posted the pattern at the end of my blog post (not as a hotlink -- I'd downloaded it onto my computer), but I immediately went back and edited the post and took out the pattern and instead linked to this blog post. In case the post as originally written pops up on someone's rss service and shows the pattern and they contact you about it, I wanted to let you know I'd corrected that right away.

I was going to email you but couldn't find your email address (on your blog profile, the word "email" is just a clickable option and I don't have Microsoft Outlook so I can't open the clickable option to see what the email addy is -- I know, it's confusing!!).

Here's my post, if you want to see what I did: http://wrenandstitchy.wordpress.com/2008/11/02/nablopomo-post-2-inspiration-for-stitching-on-canvas/
