monday = thrifted

I did pretty well on my list of things to do this past weekend. I could have gotten even more done if I had been a little more focused on Saturday. Still, I did complete some projects {its going to be a long post, hope you’re comfortable!}.

First I have to share two thrifted finds from the weekend…

When I picked this up a little voice said “you have to have that!” – it was a really loud & enthusiastic voice so I had to get it:

I’ve seen these at sales before but they haven’t been so nicely done or complete. And for $12 even if I take it apart to use the pieces it was a deal. Although the little voice said I must keep it intact and use it for at least one Christmas {that little voice is quite opinionated!}.

And the bonus is it lights up!

I also found this fun purse for $4:

And now for the fruits of my weekend labor…made with thrifted parts which is what makes them work for thrifted Monday.

I thrifted this great metal spinner game board years ago with the intention of making it into a clock. And despite the fact that all I had to do was drill a hole & buy a clock kit at the craft store did I ever do it?! No, not until this past weekend:

I love it so much!

And the clock making didn’t stop there, oh no. I got it into my head that I wanted to use a couple of my smaller, poorly done paint by numbers as clock faces. So I went to Michaels and bought one of the wooden photo memory boxes {base & lid with a window cut out - $5.99} then I used the base as my, well, base for the clock.

I painted the box sides {I left the inside natural}, found the center of the bottom, drilled a hole then glued on the paint by number. Trimmed the edges so it was flush then finished drilling the hole through the board. Then I just put the clock works in and and bam, another clock!

Here’s the back view:

I was lucky to find a box that was so similar in size to the paint by numbers I have. I only had to trim a little bit off.

I will use the lid to make something else since it would make a nice shadow box. That will have to wait till next weekend though…

LOVE the jewelry Christmas tree! I haven't had the good fortune of ever seeing one for sale - I'll have to keep my eyes open for one. I love vintage rhinestone jewelry.

Your clock is faboo! Love the colors.

Ohhh...the light up tree is so...awful (sorry)...that it is actually kinda cool! You HAVE to use it for at least one Christmas! Think of the family conversations it will inspire..."I remember when Great Aunt Irma had earrings like those..." lol Thanks for sharing it with us!

I nearly died when I saw your Christmas tree picture. My husbands grandmother had one that we inherited when she passed away and I love it. In fact, I decorated our whole bedroom around it. I can't believe more exist! You seriously made me day!

mine doesn't light up though :-(

They are fab - love the spinney game thing - and what a find in the tree picture, it must have taken someone hours finding things and arranging them x

My Grammy loved to make those jewelry Christmas trees! I'm so jealous because I love them and want them all...

My dad's aunt made one of those jewelry trees and my mom really disliked it. I haven't seen it in years so I bet she got rid of it. I love yours.
