wednesday = books

So no big surprise today…our book is:

Title: Look Alive Libby
Author: Catherine Woolley
Illustrator: Liz Dauber
Copyright: 1962 {mine is the seventh printing, May 1975}
Publisher: William Morrow & Co.

I scanned the story quickly & from what I can gather Libby spends the summer with her Aunt in a cabin rental by the water…how nice for Libby you’re thinking:

But actually things do not go smoothly & there’s some trouble in paradise:

And of course there’s the burying of the Aunt in the basement after Libby has killed & cut her up…

No! I’m just kidding about that! That’s just what this image made me think of. I’m sure there’s a perfectly good, non-criminal story behind that image…

I also had to show this image of the sign out card that was in the book, isn't that sweet?! {well, except for that big discarded stamp across it...that's sad}

I’m going to show other books from the stack I photographed in the coming weeks so I hope you’ll come back and check it out!

p.s. Welcome new readers who have come via True Up – I hope you’ll be regular visitors from now on. Or well, at least on Tuesday’s when I feature vintage fabric!

Yay!! I am so happy that "Look Alive Libby" was the chosen book!

It did not disappoint. Great illustrations, and I love your humorous take on Libby's possible devious deed!

I had to read that Aunt comment a couple of times. I could believe a book that old would have the killing of an Aunt in it!! Too funny!

you are too funny. Had the aunt been killed and the niece investigated using forensic technologies my (10 year old) daughter would be all over this book!

Very cute illustrations... except... is Libby not wearing a shirt on the cover? You can see her sleeves, but there's no neckline in sight. Must be a very tall turtleneck.
