accordions & cuckoo clocks

until I learned my latest song the combination, of accordions & cuckoo clocks never crossed my mind...but now that it has I'm kind of obsessed with the idea of having one someday, which thanks to the internet I found is indeed possible since a quick search turned up these examples:

and here's the song that started it - "the cuckoo waltz" - which is also the one I've enjoyed playing the most so far:

oh - by the way, despite the impression the dog gives yawning like we'd been doing this for hours, this was actually my first try recording the song...which is why I let out that ridiculous giggle at the end, I couldn't believe I got it on the first take :)

{have a wonderful weekend!}

p.s. I still remember getting that dress at a church bag sale awhile back thinking someday I just might need the kind of outfit one would wear to a beer hall...

Aaah the headless Fraulein! Nice job! And your dog is the best! (which is very special coming from me because I'm a cat person)

I love these little videos as I have a strange obsession with the accordion. I am also wondering if your head has ever made a guest appearance in any pics or videos! :)

I really want a cuckoo clock pretty bad myself. Those are some great pics of them. I loved the accordion music, my kids loved it so much we watched it twice. Thanks for the video.

Love how you've got the whole package going with the perfect outfit. Maybe the dog needs some lederhosen?

I love your beerhaus ensemble! Great work on the song - it's really interesting to me to see what you're playing, because we are learning such different stuff. This week I am playing all Simon & Garfunkel!

I've been a bit obsessed with cuckoo clocks for quite some time! I have two mock plastic ones as any of the real ones are well out of our price range. Maybe I'll get lucky at an estate sale someday...

this brightened my day in so many ways! The giggle was the cherry on top! Is it very hard to learn to play the accordion? How long have you been at it! I just love it's sound and whimsical charm!

thanks everyone for your comments! I always enjoy getting them but they are especially appreciated about the accordion videos since I feel more vulnerable somehow posting them - so thanks so much for the encouragement :)

really sally - twice?! I'm so flattered!!

good canary...my head has only made a couple appearances - I have not gotten the hand yet of taking good self portraits, or how to put the petroleum jelly on the lens to get that fuzzy star trek affect without messing up my point & shoot!

ittybittybirdie - I started taking lessons back in june & I do think it's a challenging instrument to play since it's kind of like playing two at the same time! the fact that I took piano lessons growing up & knew how to read music has been very helpful!

mixette - OMG, lederhosen would have been awesome on the dog!! maybe next time ;)

speaking of outifts...I'm kind of having fun with the whole dressing up thing & have to thrift some more interesting things to wear! like I needed an excuse to go thrifting ;)

I like how your dog seems to be keeping perfect beat with his head till he falls out of frame.
