everything was for sale at this hundred year old house in the heart of hutchinson amish country, right down to the built-ins, because it was going to be demolished to make way for a new home built by the daughter who had inherited the farm from her parents.
after the sale, driving down the dirt road on the way back to town I stopped to say hi:
man, cows make me homesick.

cows make me homesick too!
The whole post brings back so many memories - reminds me that we're all not so different after all. Grew up in the 70s in WV + my great grandparent's home was pretty much the same as your photos. It's too bad on some levels, but I guess progress is how we become better. Thanks for shooting while you were shopping.
Makes me so very sad. was the house in such bad shape that it couldn't be saved? Sometimes I hate "progress."
You took very lovely pictures though. What did you buy?
Awwww. I love farmhouses and I love those chairs! Too bad it's being replaced.
