I would love to learn to crochet. I've never so much as attempted. I've always found it intimidating but I keep seeing all these lovely handmades everywhere and I'm thinking I might have to take the plunge. I have a beautiful afghan that my grandmother made for me as a child. Oh, to have her skill!
If I was nearer, I'd love to teach you! I like crochet because it's quick even though it's so yarn-hungry and I love the repeats in afghans and motifs. My crafty resolution? Use my existing supplies and my collection of fabrics. Like many crafters I'm just a magpie for those little things that just might come in useful. Thank you for all your inspiration in 2009. Have a great 2010. x
I might have to write a craft / baking resolution post! Certainly Xmas crafts earlier will be on the list. Starting on December 22nd was a dumb idea (oh procrastination)!
Your list is pretty dang close to mine! I have attempted crocheting so many times. I finally made a granny square with a lot of help from a friend. As soon as she went home I instantly forgot everything she taught me *sigh* heres to 2010 being the crocheting year!
Nice list - and beautiful pictures! I'm particularly loving the pic with the Beatles lyrics on the wall. I have two craft resolutions this year: I would really like to make a quilt, and I also want to craft more for myself. I spend a lot of time making gifts for people, which is awesome, but I would like to have more of my handmade things in my home!
I already know how to crochet, but I will go along with all your other resolutions. I already have some yo=yos, so will find a way to use those. I also have a bunch of hexagons, so have to find a way to use them. I guess my resolution would be to finish all the WIPs I already have.
My crafty resolution is to finish a few of my older projects. If you want to learn crochet, you just have to take a look at Teresa's blog: http://crochet-mania.blogspot.com/ She has a great blog with video-tutorials, so everybody can learn crochet this way!
thanks everyone for sharing your resolutions! I hope we all do well keeping them :)
I think I will end up using online tutorials in conjunction with taking a class at a yarn shop to learn crochet {if only countrymummy was closer!}, so thanks for the link annet. I wish I could take a class with all of you crochet resolution-ists...I think I just made up a new word!
karen the beatles lyrics are painted...but I love the idea of doing something similar with fabric!!
I have that same problem artsy momma - if I don't do something over & over again right after I learn it I will totally forget it! at least I can take comfort in knowing I'm not the only one :)
this is the first time I've posted my resolutions...I wonder if it will make any difference in the end? I'm hoping it will since my track record thus far is not so great! so yeah, dawnkristine you can borrow mine...maybe that way they will actually get accomplished!
No crafting goals for this year. But I do love that wreath!!! And the Christmas trees are great. I think I will create a crafting list of things I would want to do this year. Sounds like a good idea.
My goal is to post something mid-month, each month, on my blog that relates to making one Christmas/holidays related item. I'm encouraging others who want to dig out of the Christmas pit ("I want to make homemade gifts! But I never start early enough! How did December roll around so quickly (again!)?") to join in by figuring out how they'd like to spread their activities across the year to be READY come December!
Learning to crochet is on my list too! I want to try the granny squares and the edging on pillow cases. I'm always going for those pieces at the fleas and estate sales.
So far I've looked at the tutorials on the Lion Brand website (good!) and in my copy of the 1974 "Make it Yourself."
I learnt to crochet this year - Theresa's tutorials (at Crochet Mania) taught me. They're great you can pause and repeat bits to your heart's content. I've done two blankets and three hats and now I'm doing granny squares for that elusive afghan.... I think I might need to get help with my crochet addiction, be warned! Try going on You Tube and type in crochet 101, Theresa's posted everything on there and I think it's easier to find the starter's tutorials there than on her blog (but it's probably just me). Once you've done that join the world of Ravelry (loads of free patterns), and visit Lucy's blog, Attic 24, it's an amazing blog and I love the colours. Lucy's posted some great granny square tutorials. I still haven't made any resolutions, is it too late?!
My crafty resolutions this year are pretty much summed up in 2 words..."Do more."
I love to sew, quilt and embroider, and I also love photography. This past summer I taught myself to knit, and over the Thanksgiving/Christmas holiday season, I taught myself to crochet (sorta).
So I mostly plan on doing more of all of the things I love, and getting much better at the knitting and crocheting.
BTW-I love your blog and visit often (but I must confess I rarely leave a comment). However, you never fail to inspire me, and I want to thank you for that!
I'm a full-time graphic designer who likes to thrift, craft & take photos in my spare time.
{Please don't use any photos or written content without my permission...thanks!}

Funny...a lot of my resolutions are the same. My biggest resolution is to actually finish the crafts I begin. :)

I've just been looking up crochet tutorials now! Apparently, I've taken a little break to read some blogs. Now back to the search!

Can I just borrow your resolutions? I love that Babette blanket in the first photo, that might be my next project actually! Happy 2010!

I like that picture of the bedroom with the yo-yo dresser scarf. A new way to use yo-yos.
One of my gols is to learn how to crochet.
