the answer book: McCall's guide to carefree sewing

I can't find a copyright date, but I'm going to go out on a limb here & say its sometime in the 1970's:

{if this blog had smell 'o vision the scent of old spice would be wafting through the air right now}

yum, Courvoisier, Old Spice, and cigars!

Seriously though, i would totally make and wear that black/grey plaid skirt that hangs to the floor!

i am rather curious as to what the girls in the baby doll tops are she drawing on her pants?

neat book!

These images are from the 70s? I would have never guessed! :)

Fun find! (and dare I admit that I'm drawn to that yellow suit and the shape of her hat??)

Love the plaid suit! Is that Woody Harrelson in the last picture (centre)? I smell sweaty polyester!

Hey, love your blog and follow it quite frequently! This post is a HOOT! You have a great sense of humor and I love all the wonderful embroidery patterns you share - I have stitched quite a few tea towels lately!

I must admit - I would totally wear that red ruffle baby doll ensemble. However, this post is just further proof that vintage patterns and sewing/craft books are THE BEST fodder for comedy ever. What is going on in that last photo? We are drinking and smoking shoulder to shoulder, but we can't look at each other. Too cool for that. Also the random viking they stuck in with the Teen Beat wannabes doesn't blend so well.

I remember both making these clothes and wearing them - oh, such a long time ago it seems!

(the world was so much thinner then!)
