I don't remember my dad taking many photos growing up...I'm almost sure he barely took a handful & wasn't that interested in the whole idea of it.
but I do remember him taking these photos of the carrot hand he grew:
I love that he wanted to document that carrot. and that he felt he had to include his glove as reference just in case the obvious wonder that was the carrot hand should be lost on anyone.
we would have celebrated this birthday this week so he was on my mind & I thought a nice way to remember him would be to share the carrot hand :)
{have a great weekend!}
p.s. unlike my father I take more than a handful of photos everytime I go anywhere so if you'd like to see the 4th & final installment of photos from our road trip to kinsley just go here.

What a sweet tribute and memory.
How amazing! Your dad had a "ahem" taste for the unusual. How did he get it to grow that way? Was it intentional or just a fluke? Did your family eat it? Just curious. Lovely tribute.
Perfect! That's so cute and so hilarious - I know *I* would love being remembered that way. Very sweet! :)
I'm really curious how he got the carrot to grow like that! But this is a great memory to have, a really cool tribute!
Thanks for all the beautiful photographs and other blogging tidbits! Keep up the good work! :)
That is such a cool carrot. I am also curious if your all ate it.
What a great memory. I lost my dad three years ago, and it is exactly this type of memory that I cherish the most.
thank you for your comments & for your interest in the carrot! I'm afraid I don't remember if we ate it...and as far as I know it was just a fluke that it grew that way :)
Now I come to think of it, I can't remember my dad ever taking photos either...did you eat the carrot after the photo-shoot? It's been almost a year since my Dad died so I'm constantly re-running memories. I think I'll raid the photo-box this week.
that is so touching. I think most men don't bother with the memory preserving. I think your dad would be so happy that you posted this! Hugs, Mickie and the poodles
This makes me smile. I've grown a few "hands" in my day. It's creepy and cool at the same time.

Such a wonderful story and memory. Thank you for sharing something so personal with us. A great reminder to make each day count...even if it is by something as simple as photographing a "handy carrot" that made you smile.

I had a really bad dream about this carrot hand last night thanks to Nyquil. There was this scary guy with really fat fingers and they ended up getting cut off. ewww.
