wednesday = books

I wanted to post this on Monday but since I didn’t & I can’t wait till next week I’m going to throw it in today! I found another owl this past weekend while thrifting and now I am obsessed with finding a bunch more and painting them all either different colors, or all the same color {blue} and lining them up on the living room mantle.

You might recall I recently painted one blue.

So, keeping that in mind, I’m enlisting your suggestions as to what color to paint this one with a poll over there on the right…please vote! I’m so curious to see what you think… {You can vote until Sunday night at 11pm}

Okay, now back to the daily subject at hand – books.

Today’s book is:

Title: Better Homes & Gardens Gifts to Make Yourself
Publisher: Meredith Corp.
Copyright: 1972 {mines the third printing, 1973}
Contents: Sewing, crochet, knitting, candles, cooking, decorations, present wrapping, etc…

I think I have a duplicate of this book...I will try to track it down and add it to the giveaway pile. I had a thought about the giveaway the other day - if I can gather enough stuff I'm thinking it would be fun to do a giveaway a day for a week with the items matching my posting schedule! I still need to figure out the logistics of it all but I'm leaning toward that idea...

See you tomorrow!

Oh - thank you for voting sweetjessie...I'm so nervous it will be like I threw a party and no one came if I don't get any votes!

I voted for the lime green, but what I would do is paint it white underneath- green on top and then scuff it up with sand paper...but that's me.

What an excellent idea. I think painting them all different colors would look really cool.

Ooooh, I love the idea of painting nicknacks all one (modern) color! And isn't it funny to see something vintage (the felt fruit wall hangings especially) that you would totally see being made today?
And I voted for lime green, for spunk.

You guys are so cute - thanks for voting & your ideas, this is fun!

Now I just need to go thrifting this weekend to find more items to paint...

This is a great idea, G! I voted for the blue. I really like the idea of your owls being painted all the same color, but maybe different shades, if you wanted to "spice" things up. ;)

Oh, and that fruit hanging is really cute!

those dolls are so sweet. And the aprons! vintage craft books are so charming sometimes.
Oh, you should post a photo of your mantle to help us decide what colour to vote for.

I would like to vote for the different shades of blue. I love your giveaway idea too. Something each day to match your schedule--cool, cool, cool. Giveaways are fun, except the person that won mine still hasn't emailed me yet. So it kind of stinks.

If you're curious {like elizabeth - thanks for the suggestion btw!} about what the mantle looks like you can see it here:http://www.flickr.com/photos/22309813@N02/2194032572/in/set-72157603907371241/

I'm desperate for the weekend to start so I can go out and look for more animals so I can paint them and change out the mantle for spring!
