Today’s book is:
Title: Lisbeth Perrone’s Needlepoint Workbook
Publisher: Random House
Copyright: 1973
This is a recent acquisition & as you can see it was $1.98. Our neighborhood thrift store does not have a very extensive craft book section. Is it just me, or is it getting harder to find vintage craft books?! I almost passed out when I saw this there...
It is an incredibly unwieldy 12x14 so I couldn’t scan it. I suppose it’s actually quite handy if you’re transferring the designs to the canvas but otherwise its not very convenient and virtually impossible to put on a bookshelf.
Personally, I'm not into the plastic canvas thing, but I think the line drawings have lots of other applications so I grabbed it!
I tried to do some research on Lisbeth but I only found book references, nothing like a biography, which is what I was hoping to find. She seems like she would be an interesting person, although I’m basing this solely on her funky designs and cool polka dot shirt.

I know how you feel. I almost pass out everytime I find a vintage embroidery book at the op-shop (thrift shop) or garage (yard) sale. Love your blog by the way.
what a beautiful book. I found about 6 vintage embroidery kits, intact, at the thrift store two weeks ago. I had all of them in my arms then put all but one back. I didn't know what to do with all of them and didn't want to just add them to my stash. sigh. It's feast or famine isn't it?!
I think you might find her in Sweden:

(I'm not sure she's the one, but try contact her and find out!)
I just found your web site by chance, but am returning to check more cool stuff out!
I ran across your blog and I am so glad! This is so much fun and so cute, I thought I was into vintage fabric, but wow! You have some beautiful fabric! I love all the vintage books too. And thrift shopping is the best, I'm addicted. I will definately be visiting often!
The book looks great - the line drawings would be so useful for fabric painting or embroidery, or both. Craft books are harder to get hold of - mainly I think because of loads of people hoarding them, like me!
Oooh! That book looks fabulous! You're right about the line drawings, they have lots of potential. :)
Love the blog. I'm across the pond in Wiltshire, England. Our vintage fabric/craft/button/ribbon supplies seem to be disappearing fast from all our charity (thrift) shops etc. We have massive boot sales too but it seems like all the good stuff is being snapped up. Great book - I can see why you love the drawings. Love the way you theme each day too - wish I'd thought of that!
She's got a cool name too!
Love that tree design! yay!!
that flowery tree! ahh! wonderful.
i think it's really hard to part with a crafty book, even if you never do anything from it which is why they're someimtes impossible to find.
With a polka dot shirt like that she must be cool. I must confess that i regularly pass up books like that at yard sales. No longer though! I will snag and share. Maybe even give em away. I am very fickle with my things.
