I currently have several embroidery projects in varying states of incompleteness & it's driving me kind of nuts...hopefully after this weekend they will be finished & I can share them here. until then here is a lovely photograph I found on flickr:

country estate sale

everything was for sale at this hundred year old house in the heart of hutchinson amish country, right down to the built-ins, because it was going to be demolished to make way for a new home built by the daughter who had inherited the farm from her parents.








after the sale, driving down the dirt road on the way back to town I stopped to say hi:

my visit saturday happened to coincide with the town's chili fest so not only did the whole place smell delicious but the furniture store was having an ugly couch contest...except I thought contestant #2 was beautiful, much to the amusement of the salesman.

and thanks to the halloween costume rack at the thrift store I even found the perfect skirt to wear while doing it! but first here are some great album covers to get you warmed up:

getting up to the register & finding out it's buy one pair, get one pair free shoe day :)

recently thrifted

it's been awhile since I did any new paint by number background photos but I just hadn't found anything interesting to put in front of them, until I came across some avon train shaped cologne bottles:



I know a little boy who's big into trains so thought maybe they'd make nice prints for his room. they could hang next to the present I got him for his birthday last month:


I was so excited to find it in a salvage place downtown...it was about the same size as him! the best part though, he was so happy he hugged it when he first saw it :)

I mentioned last week that I purchased a bunch of loose transfers at an estate sale - well included were two sets of flower girls which I think are very charming :) the line work is a little different because they are hand drawn on tracing paper though:
