I don't really have anything to share yet on my latest embroidery projects so I thought instead I'd show you a thrifted piece:


I got this at the thrift store for $4.98 the other day after work. I haven't put a battery in it yet to see if it works...I've just been admiring all the hand-work that someone put into it.




I've also got your weekly vintage embroidery patterns - this time its flowers from superior #154:

seriously, I don't know what possesses me sometimes...I decided we needed a big, embroidered deer head for above the mantle.

I used this vintage transfer:


to make this:


he's about 36" tall & 29" wide and is backed with 1/2" foam core.

I used #3 coton perle done in a chain stitch, which you can kind of see here:


I screwed up the eyes but I'm trying not to beat myself up about it too much...

moving on to today's vintage embroidery samples, which are from superior #125:

Martha contacted me awhile back offering to trade vintage fabric & coloring books for scans from one of the coloring books I had shared here. she sent me a box full of amazing treasures and then made a beautiful quilt with the scans I sent her - isn't it wonderful?!

no actual embroidery to share today...not that I haven't been busy, just haven't had time to take photos. I'm alternately working on xmas gifts & new things for the shop.

I hope to do a shop update very soon...I'll try to post about the update prior to it actually going live this time. I don't know if anyone out there really cares, but I've noticed some people do that & I can see how it could be helpful.

while home visiting my family I took photos of some of my mom's embroidered handiwork to share:



I believe she said she made these when she was in her late teens. I think they're so sweet & love that I inherited her embroidery gene!
