back in august 2008 I took these photos of a storefront in downtown wichita which fascinated me since it appeared one day they had simply shut the door & walked away.
it appears there had been a couple articles in the paper before about the store, the family who owned it, plans for the building & the upcoming sale. but I had missed those & just happened to catch the sale notice last thursday.
by the time the doors opened at 8am for the sale there were probably about 40 people waiting & talking - some were antique dealers, some were people who remembered shopping there, some knew the family who owned the store & others were just curious like me to finally see inside...
I think the most important thing to take away from this is that apparently Macgyver became a mannequin after the series ended, and he hung out regularly at the shop. :)
ReplyDeleteI love those scary/hot mannequins. And the Wrangler box--"Remember the W is silent." That place is a time capsule!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I love all your shots, but the paper towel dispenser might be my favorite. What a fun day that must have been.
