I could fall in love with a bowling pin:
I also thrifted my first nautical paint by number:
and this kind of creepy fellow:
{does anyone have any suggestion on how to get the paint off the gnome's face? even though there's some weird discolartion in the plastic that won't come off I still think he'll look better without the paint. however, scrapping it off is proving to be very slow going & murder on my thumb nail...}
I think the bowling pin guy is much more creepy than the gnome. LOVE the paint by number, so jealous.
ReplyDeleteSometimes a Mr Clean Magic Eraser will remove paint.
ReplyDeleteLOVE BOWLING PIN MAN. LOVE HIM. He's just so jolly. As for the gnome, I'd do a little bit of research into art restoration, and the tools they use to take off layers of paint without damaging the paint beneath it.
ReplyDeleteI am so envious of that ship paint by number!!!!!!!! I love it!
ReplyDeleteI'd try a bit of finger nail polish remover on the paint. Test a very tiny spot first so as not to ruin him!
I had the same problem with plastic critters I inherited from my grandpa...I gently rubbed with nail polish remover, then painted the whole thing (you can see 'em here...http://tangarangblog.blogspot.com/2008/11/first-camelia-blooms.html below the camelias). Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHello, do you still have the bowling pin man? I realize this post is 5 years old, but i just picked up the exact same pin at a thrift store. Do you have any info about the pin? I thought it was hand made, but i ran across your pic when i was researching it. I am not sure if you will even read this comment. Thanks
