thursday = embroidery

Oh, do I dare say the word…

Spring!

I think its here, I mean I know on the calendar it says its here, but I feel it in my heart & soul too.

I thought I’d share this guy I found a couple weekends ago when I was cleaning & organizing my work area:

He’s an Aunt Martha Pattern which I bought at Joann’s {I think} and stitched up this past summer.

I think I might hang him up on my workroom wall in a hoop as a reminder that I can work on fabric that isn’t white or natural! I really like this color combination…yeah, I need to hang this up…maybe right now…

Happy Spring!

I keep finding abandoned embroidery projects tucked into drawers - I guess it's a good time to dust 'em off and make something purdy out of them!!! The owl pattern is perfect. Thanks!

I am in the middle of an embroidery pattern I think I am going to abandon and start over. Man, do I have the cannot make up mind disease right now.

OMG I love this pattern! And I've never seen the 70's packing of this one before...is it a reissue?

PS. love the owl !

awww - thanks everyone!

Drezel - I don't know if its a reissue, maybe Flor knows...

Sarah & jack - I have taken apart whole projects when they were 98% done because I just couldn't bare them not to be more "right" so I know exactly how you feel!

And when you do sweetjessie, make sure you share them on your blog!

Your owl is awesome! You know how some animals go in and out of style? I think owls are "in" right now. They keep popping up everywhere. Which is great, cause they're so cute!!

What cute little deer!

I recently stitched up that same Aunt Martha owl - I had very good intentions to put him on a zippered pouch, but it just hasn't happened yet. I think I've lost interest because it was such a wintertime project: I stitched him on a brown and tan patterned fabric. I find myself almost never stitching on white anymore. I love the way you can use the background to really make your embroidery pop.

What a cute owl! I never think to do anything on a fabric that is not white or neutral like you said. What a great example of how great a colored fabric can be.
