thursday = embroidery

making things for friends is one of my favorite things to do. sometimes they even get pregnant just so I can have babies to make things for {thanks jill, michelle & now patty too}!

other times they actually suggest something specific, which is great because it pushes me out of my comfort zone & challenges me. recently I was very much challenged by a tie request {hi marco!}:

I had issues with how it looked though {that t-shirt transfer paper didn't work well on silk, it puckered alot around the embroidery & it's really not wearable} so I made another one as a sort of a consolation prize:

in the end I've come to the conclusion that I like working on ties, but I'm going to try appliqueing on them instead - if it works I think they might even be a new shop item.

next on my list of friend projects...word plates for wendi & a banner for the new baby!

and finally, here's this week's vintage embroidery pattern...yet another of the girlie stamped linen designs:

happy stitching!

{p.s. that's an amc javelin if you're curious}

  3. I love the ties and think they would be a great addition to your shop. I have asked my husband a few times if I could embroider a tie for him and he always says no immediatly I might show him yours and say see you could have something similar to that not as cool but similar.
