1- pretty fabric:
{I have no idea what this is used for, but how cute is that pattern?!}
2 - useless things that make me smile:
{especially if they are pink}
3 - men's shoes:
{if you have big feet like me there is a world of vintage footwear possibly untapped at your local thrift store}
4 - vintage coats:
{a couple are okay, but they become a weakness when you continue to buy them even though you've run out of closet space}
do you have any thrifting weaknesses?
p.s. have a wonderful weekend!
owls and vintage linens are my weakness!
ReplyDeleteOh my, that rv is too cute!
ReplyDeleteIt's planters for me, and souvenir plates, and little embroidered hankies :)
That RV and that jacket = awesome! I have a wire basket and well generally container problem. I love the old wire baskets from freezers, I really don't think I could have to many. The trunks on the other hand... Those realy take up space.
ReplyDeleteThat pink Tonka camper would definitely follow e home!
ReplyDeleteMy weaknesses are so random these days, but usually involve tiny, or books, or bags/jewelry/scarves/footwear (like how I clumped those into just one? Ahh, denial...) or bedding, or vintage children's things, including little chairs and toys.
For the longest time it was teacups and other vintage china or pottery, but I mostly got my fill of those.
LOVE the coat, btw!
xox,
Susan
Love the shoes. I too have big feet and am always searching for men's wingtips.
ReplyDeleteMy thirfting weakness is vintage linens, really old books and wooden storage things (jewelry cabinets, crates, etc). Although lately I've been into anything with a granny chic vibe like the framed needlepoint I just got.
mine must be coats (also), ceramic cats or wooden cats & skirts
ReplyDeleteI love vintage children's books, kitchenware, that coat your wearing and that camper - how cool. I also have a thing for vintage toys & love the toy museum in Branson... sigh :)
ReplyDeleteThrifted wool! and buttons, thousands of buttons....and purse handles? although I've only ever made one purse :P

ReplyDeleteI also have a thrifting weakness for fabric including vintage sheets! I also can't help but buy old books, wool skirts, and wooden toys.
ReplyDeleteShoes are my weakness. I find so many nice shoes that are like new at the thrift store. Needle point pictures that I had to quit buying because I ran out of wall room to hang them. lol. All kinds of books. And what ever strikes my fancy at the moment when I walk into the store.

ReplyDeleteI love your weaknesses. Mine are just about any type of vintage home crafts or food cook books. My husband has boxes of vintage suits that he hasn't fit into since early on in our marriage but he just can't part with them. Not to mention his record collection.
ReplyDeleteUseless things that make me smile are one of my weaknesses too! That and buttons. I love trawling through containers of buttons at thrift stores. I rarely actually sew them onto anything though. I should really start using them.
ReplyDeleteMy thrifting weakness is vintage luggage! It's SOOOO hard for me to see a case I love and leave the store without it...but I already have plenty! I still pick up one or two every now and then. :)
ReplyDeleteOMG! That pink Tonka Camper truck would have been a must have for me too! I love looking at toys at the thrift shop and usually buy dolls and doll size furniture. I too have a weakness for interesting patterns in any type of textile. ;)
ReplyDeleteVintage bowls are my biggest weakness. Okay, if I'm honest, vintage dishes in general. It's a good thing they're useful.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should try vintage coats, so that I could look trendy like you!
Oh yeah! I totally have thrifting weaknesses...vintage sheets, table linens, glassware, Pyrex/Fire King and vintage silk scarves.
ReplyDeleteYou have hit the nail on the head. Coats, fabric and the why did I buy that? categories. Throw in vintage jewelry and old craft books and I'm good. Now about those men's shoes, I'm sure Stacy and Clinton would not approve.
ReplyDeletexo, suzy
thanks everyone for sharing your thrifting weaknesses!
ReplyDeletemade me realize how many more I have than I thought I did because I kept reading yours going "oh, yeah - I have that one too!"...so good to know I'm not alone :)
My current weakness in the thrifted world is vintage patterns. I buy them even if they aren't my size.
ReplyDeleteThat's a killer coat, and I LOVE the pink pick-up!
..the pink camper is awesome..I want it!!
ReplyDeleteThrifting weaknesses:Vintage linens,hoodies, backpack purses,skinny belts to turn into little dog collars(thats a new one sigh),vintage crafts....I could go on and on and on...somebody stop me........;)
I Heart ur blog!
I think that the first thing might be a bucket for picking fruit. But awfully pretty!
ReplyDeletePyrex!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd plenty of other things, too, but I can just never resist a piece of Pyrex. They're useful, you know? I can pretty much always justify it.
yes my weakness is vintage children's books (especially Little Golden Books). I keep telling myself to stop as I don't have any bookshelves for them at the moment but I just can't. I'm a sucker for adorable illustrations. I also scrounge for vintage greeting cards too.
ReplyDeletePyrex and sheets! I was at an estate sale and I told the person in line next to me that I had an addiction to vintage sheets and she totally looked at me funny. I wanted to tell her, "It's not like I go home and smell them," but I wasn't sure it would help the situation.
