another necklace
I used the same principle as when I made the earring necklace but this time with fabric covered brads from the scrapbooking aisle at target.
for this version I used two pin-backs to connect the pieces {please excuse my messy use of glue...I tend to be less precise when I make things for myself as well as when I do a project for the first time & am excited to get it done}
**edit to add: based on a helpful comment {thanks olwen!}, I edited the original post on how I made the necklace I linked to in this post so I thought I better also add it here just in case: soldering the pin backs & jump rings onto the brads would be a more secure way to construct this but I don't know how yet. if you use glue, double check you've used enough on the jump rings especially & just keep in mind when you wear it that it is more delicate than soldered type jewelry.
Can I have your brain? You have a great brain. Creativity FOR THE WIN! So lovely.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! i REALLY LOVE THAT!
ReplyDeleteWhat a GREAT idea!
ReplyDeleteI have some fabric brads that I hate to do any scrapbooking with. But making a necklace seems like a winner for me!!!
Gorgeous! This would also be fun with hand-embroidered covered buttons.
ReplyDeleteooooo. i have those brads. what a great way to use them. so cute and ingenious use of the pinbacks.
ReplyDeleteyou are one clever girl! i love it.
ReplyDeleteHave you considered soldering attachments on the back? That would be my preference for this sort of project.
ReplyDeletethanks everyone for your comments - I'm glad you liked the idea :)
ReplyDeleteolwen - yes, soldering would definitely be a better way to make the necklace! however, I don't know how yet...it's on my list of things to learn though :)
What a fabulous idea! I've been saving a package of Amy Butler brads for the right project--and here it is. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. I always buy fancy brads and then I don't want to use them.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I get too excited when I'm first making a project. I'm an impatient crafter-I can't wait to see the finished product!
what a great way to show off those fun, retro-looking brads! great job. (o:
