found these in a 1974 ladies' home journal needle & craft magazine...you could fill out an order form to send away for the purse & alphabet {yarn was not included}, the large was $25 & the small was $22 plus $1.25 postage & handling.

Seriously, I would totally send that money in now if it would get me those letters! My fingers itch to stich 'em just looking at those photos!!
There is a book called Needlepoint Alphabets by author Gladstone, which contains directions for this alphabet, Lapidaire Monstre.
