thursday = embroidery

the one where I use a song* lyric, vintage pillowcases & a fabric dye pen {for the first time}:

despite a little bleeding here & there I'm pretty happy with the way it came out!

in other embroidery news I lucked out at a recent estate sale & got a bunch of loose patterns for a $1 - this week's design was by far the weirdest & therefore my favorite:

happy stitching!

  5. The pillowcases look great. I love that the dye allows the original design of the fabric to show through.

    Love the bowling pattern too, so silly! :)

  6. The floral pattern showing through the dye really makes it - wouldn't be nearly as cool with an opaque paint effect. Awesome.

    Before I scrolled down all the way I thought those were some happy wine bottles!

  8. Oh, lovely! Such a nice impact.

    I love and also am creeped out by the vintage patterns that involve things made into characters that are obviously self harming. Like bowling pins enjoying being knocked over. Or a tomato cavorting with a fork. What kind of SICK tomato is that? Well, some people are into that sort of thing, I guess.

  10. thanks everyone!

    I'm so excited a couple of you noticed how the dye let the design show through - I really wanted that affect so was happy to find the FabricMate pen I used at Michaels.

    if you embroider something with the bowling pins or do something with pillowcases I'd love to see guys :)
