he-man hand knits

from the introduction:

the first important step in knitting for a man is to be sure to choose a style he'll like. this book is chock full of the styles men want today, smart new continental styles, from giant bulky knits to the tremendously popular turtle necks. they're all here, he-men styles from the world's leading centers of fashion in clear, easy-to-follow instructions, each quick and easy to make.

and then there it is on page 14, the he-manliest hand knit of them all...the belted sweater!

or as they call it "belted interest no. 6305"

{confused about my interest in belted sweaters? take a look at this post to see where it all started}

anticipation

a bush in our yard had to be cut down but I made sure this little guy was safe first:

p.s. anyone else have trouble saying the word "anticipation" without thinking of Dr. Frank N. Furter?

{have a lovely weekend!}

salina, ks

if you should ever find yourself in town make sure to go to the cozy inn - you'll smell like grilled onions for the rest of the day but it's worth it!

{but be warned...they do the burgers one way & only one way - with grilled onions & pickles. no cheese. ever. if you don't like pickles you do what the big burly guy down the counter from me did - you take them off & make a little pickle pile.}

children's circus of songs

it feels like weeks since I've seen the sun. october has been so cold, wet & dreary...I think some brightly colored silly illustration is called for:

well there now, I don't know about you but I feel a little better...

we recently took a drive out to lucas, ks to see…

the grassroots art center:

{artwork by adolph hannemann}

the deeble rock garden:

the garden of isis/rebarb house:

{artwork by mri-pilar}

and the garden of eden:

all very interesting places, but I have to admit my favorite place was the laundromat...

because inside is where I took this photo, which for some reason I kind of love a lot:
