monday = thrifted

thanks for all the nice comments on the photos - I'm so flattered you liked them!

I was never that into photography until I started this blog...it seems like it's a natural evolution since I see many other bloggers have had the same experience. In fact, this weekend I bought this beautiful photo from jennifer. and am so excited to see that the lovely bettyninja has a new etsy shop for her photos!

so, in addition to reading blogs & wistfully looking at etsy I also did some estate sale shopping:

oh, this weekend I also entered the make baby stuff quilt contest - wish me luck!
{I'm so glad I didn't look at any of the other submission before I entered or I would have chickened out since they're all amazing!}

p.s. I'm posting some individual pattern photos on flickr if you're interested...I found some great little girl ones I had to share.

friday = misc.

back a couple weeks ago I shared a photo of a charm I had thrifted with a promise that I had a plan for re-purposing it:

I glued brown paper onto the charm, cut along the edge {totally forgetting to get that little section around the pony tail - darn it!} then used diamond glaze to seal it.

the blue is paper glued to thin cardboard which is set into a pendant I painted white. then I just added some brown felt cut with scalloped scissors & a scrap of vintage fabric. slap a pin on the back and you're good to go.

have a wonderful weekend!

I LOVE the little boat - hope you do too!

{p.s. I recently started on my xmas embroidery projects so I won't have much to share here in terms of finished projects for a little while - wish me luck!}

UPDATE: sadly the host for this pdf has changed & in the process the file was lost plus I'm not able to find my original file so I can't make it available again...so sorry...if I happen to find the file I'll update this post again with new info.

thanks for all the comments on thrifted monday - I love sharing with you guys, you really "get" how exciting something like a cake topper, for instance, can be!

I've created a pdf with the directions for the santa & elf puppets, as well as the cardboard garages:

monday = thrifted

oh boy, it was another fantastic thrifting weekend!

first there was a wonderful church rummage sale where one of the ladies must have cleaned out her sewing room...and then the estate sale of a cake decorating crafty lady:

I missed out on some embroidery transfers at the estate sale...as I was coming in I saw a lady checking out with some...I'd rather not know dang it!

{I guess I can't complain though since this is only a selection of what I got...there was more; including coloring books, patterns, more fabric & more cake decorating cuties}

hope you had a good weekend too!

more vintage sewing patterns

last weekend, when I was thrifting since I was looking for patterns I seemed to see them everywhere & so bought a bunch of them to use for future collages:

friday = misc.

so as I mentioned on monday, today I'm going to share more of what I thrifted last weekend:

the rocker was the big deal of the weekend - it was $5. although the straps for the seat are all broken & need to be replaced {so the cushion has no support} and the wood is a little worse for wear.

still, it seemed to need a good home, being left until the last sale of the day when all the other cool furniture had sold earlier. like the little kid picked last for kickball...

have a great weekend!
