thursday = embroidery

I have no completed embroidery project to share with you today. In addition to being behind on my crafting I am also behind on returning emails, leaving comments on other people’s lovely blogs, catching up on all the cool stuff on flickr & just mostly everything!

I will not even go into how I am behind on working out to shrink my actual behind…

I need to do some serious focusing this weekend. To-do lists must be made and adhered to!

But first I think I’ll have some cheese…yes, this mood will definitely be improved with some cheese.

Since I cannot offer you cheese here instead is today’s embroidery pattern, cow-kitties!

Ride ‘em cow-kitty!

{p.s. have a good evening}

wednesday = books

Hello!

Today we will continue with a selection from the stack of books; a couple people asked for this one so I wanted to make sure to share it.

Title: Rob and the Robins
Author: Katherine T. Lappa
Illustrator: Janet McCaffery
Copyright: 1960
Publisher: G.P. Putnam's Sons

How cute is she knitting away while keeping her babes warm?!

I haven't read this one but while quickly skimming I see the Robins refer to humans as "No-Feathers" which I find quite amusing!

And these are my two favorites:

I'm glad you liked my apron "model" - I told him about all the nice comments he got and it went pretty quickly to his head. He's now demanding a deli platter be provided at future photo-shoots!

I also forgot to thank everyone for their nice comments about the paint-by-numbers and sympathies in regards to the other "bad" sale. Sometimes I wonder if what I post is going to be of interest to anyone, so it makes me happy when you guys leave comments and tell me you like the things I share here!

tuesday = fabric

Vintage aprons.

Yes, I have collected a few - not a very surprising fact I'm sure.

But I ask you, how could I resist them when they are made from such sweet fabrics?!

Here our muse models a lovely sheer number with ric rac details:

monday = thrifted

The rummage sale wasn’t anything to write about…however, there was also an estate sale where I hit the paint-by-number mother-load!

I was literally shaking.

My heart was beating so fast I felt faint.

But there was also heartbreak. There was another sale – advertised as an estate sale but with garage sale prices with vintage fabric & sewing supplies listed. But there was no start time. So I went as early as I dared {7:45} but two dealers had already gone through and grabbed all of it. The woman having the sale was moving and needed to get rid of stuff quickly so was selling old quilts for $5 each and fabric by the box.

You win some & you lose some…but I guess that’s what keeps me going back.

more marie claire idees

Are you having a nice weekend? I hope so...mine has been great so far!

As promised, here are some more images from the latest issue of Marie Claire Idees:

I couple people have asked where I get mine - I actually bought a subscription through amazon. I have not had any sort of problem with the subscription and I've had it for a couple years {knock on wood}. It is pricey - personally I request amazon giftcards as presents for xmas & my birthday specifically with this subscription in mind.

The Borders by me carries single issues - I have also seen it sold at other Borders in different states where we use to live. They only get a couple issues though so depending on where you live they might sell out quickly. They are pricey there as well - over $10 per issue I believe.

I have kept every issue I ever got my hands on...I should get one of those fire resistant lock boxes for them!

Well, I'm off to continue the weekend - take care!

friday = misc.

Happy Friday!

Thanks for all your nice comments about the embroidered topped box - I'm sorry I forgot to mention where I purchased the box though! I got mine at Michaels, in the unfinished wood section. I think they are $1.99 or $2.99. There are endless possiblities for using them - I hope if you do something with one that you'll send me the link so I can see!

Today I thought I'd share some of my favorite images from the latest Marie Claire Idees. There are so many that I will post more over the weekend so please check back!

Even though Monday is a holiday {here in the states} I will be posting as usual, I'm hoping that the weekend will provide me with some thrifted treasures to share! Tomorrow is that Church rummage sale I went to a week early...fingers crossed that it's a good one.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

thursday = embroidery

Since I don’t have any new embroidery to share with you here’s an older piece I haven’t shown yet.

I’ve made several of these embroidered topped boxes as gifts – this one was my first & I’ve kept it for myself. I have another one in the works now but I’m moving like molasses lately!

I have some old McCall’s Needlework magazines and whenever I look through them there are all these ads with crazy amazing kits you could buy, with little order forms to fill out and send in. How cool would it be to fill one of those out, enclose a check and get a vintage kit back in the mail?! Like if mail could travel back & forth in time...this is the kind of stuff I daydream about!
